The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has officially opened the 2025 application process.
Applications at the moment are open and will close on 15 December 2024.
*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding
To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant must satisfy the subsequent requirements:
• Be considered a South African citizen or copyright who comes from a home that has a combined gross home income that does not exceed R350 000 for each annum.
• Persons with disabilities qualify if their combined family cash flow does not exceed R600 000 per annum.
• SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and need not submit any proof of earnings.
*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle
The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to all South African citizens and permanent inhabitants from homes with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for each annum.
Applicants are reminded to supply the correct Identity Doc numbers, names, and surname, as mirrored within their South African ID.
NSFAS only funds individuals who are researching or plan to study in a general public university or TVET college in South Africa.
All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.
Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in nsfas 2025 the processing of their application.
